This is an old family favorite for birthdays but I varied up the decoration this time. It is usually simply grated chocolate sprinkled all over the top and none on the side. That didn’t seem quite pretty enough for my three roommates, all girls that love pretty things. So I decided, for their surprise party, that I would add something new to it.
I took a large heart shaped cookie cutter and traced it on wax paper. Then cut the heart shape out of the center and placed the wax paper with the hollow heart center on top of the whipped cream topped cake. This then was followed by sprinkling chocolate in the center while the wax paper border caught the extra and prevented sloppy mistakes outside of the heart. After carefully removing the wax paper carefully avoiding spilling chocolate outside of the heart center, I then placed wax paper atop the cake standing up and threw chocolate shavings on the side. The wax paper again served as a border that kept the chocolate from spoiling the perfectly white top outside of the heart.
Hearts for Roommates that I love!
