After trying this unique, delicious delicacy in a far off small town in Italy, recreating it back here in Texas became an absolute necessity. It worked out quite well. Starting with frozen puff pastry, cut it into smaller pieces and roll them out so they are much thinner than the original thickness and then spread a generous layer of nutella on it. After folding and pressing the puff pastry, it was placed into hot oil and fried until ready then placed on paper towels to cool after which they were sprinkled with powdered sugar and enjoyed.
The round desserts seen with them are Fried Cookie Dough: chocolate chip cookie dough coated in batter, fried, and coated in powdered sugar.
